"Ritual of Couture" by Monarrez Collection

The Ritual of Couture show was one of the best runway shows I have seen in a long time. The Union League Club of Chicago provided an intimate venue equipped with romantic dim lighting, tall windows, and an antique fireplace burning in the background.  The well-dressed people, savory cocktails, and bright camera flashes was the perfect prelude to the main event. Upon taking my seat in the front row, you could hear the excitement in the voices of the crowd as we all sat there asking ourselves what would be the first garment to walk down the runway.
Finally, the music starts and we are greeted with various jewel tones of ruby reds and purples adorned with feathers and embellished with belts around the waist; gold sequin and sexy black lace mini dresses that will be perfect for the upcoming holiday season and its array of parties; elegant and regal form fitting gowns that accentuate and highlight the “right” curves on a woman’s body; and an unexpected surprise of luxurious wedding gowns ranging from mermaid silhouettes to full on princess tulles.

The personality of the audience and choice of venue was the perfect marriage with the designer and his collection. It is extremely rare to see a collection where each piece is completely wearable and can be worn by various women.  From young to mature, and short or tall, with the right tailoring of course, I truly believe that any woman can find that one special piece within this collection to add to their wardrobe.
